Trade Rumors: Red Sox don't feel urgent need for Hamels

Baseball Throughout the offseason, we'll take a look at the hottest news and rumors:RUMOR: Red Sox don't view trading for Cole Hamels as urgent. REPORT

ED BY: Sean McAdam — Red Sox InsiderDETAILS: The Red Sox are without an ace in the pitching staff heading into the 2015 season, but they doesn't feel any sense of urgency to complete a deal.  LAST SEASON: Hamels, a Philadelphia Phillies lefty frequently mentioned in trade rumors, went 9-9 with a 2.46 ERA and 198 strikeouts.SN'S TAKE: Earlier this month, Hamels expressed a desire to play for a "winning team." The Red Sox, restocked after a miserable season, have a vast array of young talent to offer in trade. Still, this deal is highly unlikely. The Red Sox seem content with Clay Buchholz and Rick Porcello leading the rotation, and it will be hard for them to trade newly signed Yoan Moncada or catcher phenom Blake Swihart. If the trade did happen, Boston would have perhaps the strongest lineup and rotation in baseball.
