The Sacramento Kings were hoping to find out how long they’d be without Darren Collison, and now they know.

The NBA has suspended the Kings guard eight games without pay, according to USA Today Sports, after he pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge earlier this summer.

A formal announcement is expected Monday.

Collison, 29, pleaded guil

ty to a charge of misdemeanor battery related to a May 30 incident with his wife in their Granite Bay, Calif., home. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail and three years of informal probation, though the jail time can be served through an alternative sentencing program.

Collison, who averaged 14 points and 4.3 rebounds last season, won't be eligible to return until Nov. 8, but will be allowed to participate in the preseason, according to the report.

He'll lose approximately $380,000 in salary because of the suspension.
