Pelicans shut down Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon for remainder of season


With four games remaining this season, the New Orleans Pelicans decided to shut down forward Anthony Davis and guard Eric Gordon, the team announced. 

Davis is down with back spasms, and he is required to rest for at least one week. He has played in 67 games this season, posting 20.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 35.2 minutes.

Gordon, who has dealt with knee injuries throughout his career, has a more serious situation to deal with. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee now that his season has officially ended.

Gordon played

in only 59 games over his first two seasons with the Pelicans, but experienced a relatively healthy season this year. He played in 64 games and averaged 15.4 points, 3.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds.
